Storm-Protection Mechanisms

Float lifting over the sea level – In EWP’s unique mechanisem, the hydro cylinder may fulfill a double function: of a delivery pump and hydraulic lift cylinder. In order that a floater and its pier fastenings may not be destroyed during frequent storms of the average level of northern and southern seas of midlatitudes, the mechanism of operative float flooding and its emersion to the on-position is provided.

At a strong storm and increasing threat of pump unit destruction, the hydrocylinder, carrying out the basic function of delivery pump is switched by the hydraulic distribution valve to the mode of hydraulic lift cylinder and lifts the floater upwards, to the pier or breakwater, or any other structure.

Float Submersion – Flooding and emersion of the floater occur in the following sequence : A sensor adjusted to a certain height of a surf wave orders the pneumocylinder to open the flood valve. At that, water arrives to the floater and air goes out of it. The floater gradually loses buoyancy and gravitates to the bottom. When waves become lower, the flood valve is closed at the operator’s command from the benchboard, and compressed air moves from the accumulator through a back valve . Water pours out from the pontoon through the back valve, back to the sea, the floater comes to the surface and the pump unit starts to work. At that, seawater does not arrive through back valves to the floater.

Float Debarkation Ashore – In those countries where the sea is rough the most part and the shore is high and not always equipped with piers, breakwaters and other structures, EWP’s advanced wave power station can be adjusted for mobility. Such mobile installation allows to move the floaters ashore even from an underwater position. For this purpose, it is necessary to bring the pontoon into working condition, and then to feed working liquid under pressure from the accumulator to the hydraulic lift cylinder.

The pontoon is connected with a luffing jib by means of a fixed roller . To translocate the pontoon on shore, it is necessary to loose the roller and roll the pontoon to the opposite end of the luffing jib by means of the roller.

The whole lever system is based on the support platform , which is installed on the upper plane of the shore (pier, breakwater or any other structure). the platform allows placement of rather powerful fastenings to the shore; as well as favorably resists the effects of waves and do not require heavy spending for construction.
